Individual Psychology views the person as being a unity, as opposed to the plethora of characteristics, which comparable to an entire personality. The person strives to overcome a felt minus or inferiority by setting an objective along with a direction of motion. The person is unquestionably an indivisible whole, a look-mind unity, that’s striving to become combined with the bigger unities of humanity along with the cosmos. During this context – when the Adlerian premise is true – emotion and feeling should emerge becoming a part of the individual’s striving rather to become a completely independent pressure inside the personality.
Subjectively for that individual, however, it always seems otherwise. He’s “overcome with emotion”, “ruled by emotion”, “made dumbfounded with emotion”. He might see emotion as getting such control of him he “could not allow it to be”, “my anger got the greater of me and drove me inside it”. Emotion enables the person to deny responsibility for own actions and to see themselves as being a victim of irrational forces outdoors of his control but residing within him.
Appearances are misleading.
